In the Land of a Thousand Hills, a Silent Encounter Awaits
In the mist-shrouded mountains of Rwanda, where emerald hills roll endlessly and ancient volcanoes cast long shadows, one of Earth’s most powerful wildlife encounters quietly unfolds. This 3-day journey takes you from Kigali’s sobering past and resilient present to the heart of Volcanoes National Park, home to the legendary mountain gorillas.
Through quiet bamboo forests and the echoes of distant drumming, you’ll come face to face with a creature so human in its gaze, it may change how you see the world.
It’s a journey of remembrance, resilience—and rare connection. When you’re ready, we’ll walk with you.
Welcome to Rwanda – Where Healing Meets Hope
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you'll be warmly welcomed by your Jambo Tours representative and transferred to your hotel in the city. Settle into the rhythms of Kigali—a capital that hums with peace, purpose, and the promise of renewal. Dinner and overnight stay.
History, Heritage, and Hills That Rise into the Sky
After breakfast, begin the day with a guided city tour of Kigali, a journey through time that reveals Rwanda’s incredible transformation. Visit the Kandt House Museum, explore old Kigali and its vibrant craft centres, and pause at the Genocide Memorial, where stories of grief and resilience are honoured with grace and gravity.
After lunch in the city, depart for Volcanoes National Park in Ruhengeri—a scenic drive through Rwanda’s rolling hills, coffee and banana plantations flanking the road. In the early evening, check in at your lodge.
For those who wish, the day can end with an optional performance by Intore dancers, whose drumbeats and warrior dances breathe life into Rwanda’s cultural spirit (available at extra cost).
Dinner and overnight at Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge or Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.
In the Presence of Giants
After an early breakfast, report to the Volcanoes National Park HQ by 07:00 hrs. Here, you’ll be assigned a gorilla family based on your fitness level and given a detailed pre-trek briefing.
Led by expert guides and trackers, you’ll ascend the forested slopes where dew still clings to leaves and the air hums with anticipation. Trekking can last 2 to 6+ hours, depending on the gorilla family's location—but every step is worth it. When you meet the gorillas, you’ll have a full hour in their presence—silent, still, absorbing the intimacy of the moment.
After your trek, return to the lodge for lunch and freshening up. In the afternoon, begin the scenic journey back to Kigali, passing lush plantations and the emerald folds of Rwanda’s iconic hills.
Upon arrival in Kigali, transfer to Kigali International Airport for your evening departure flight.
End of Safari—but never the end of the story.
