Where Stories Begin
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you'll be warmly welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Rwanda’s capital. Kigali’s energy is palpable—modern, green, and full of promise—yet still holding deep space for reflection and remembrance.
Dinner and overnight at your Kigali hotel.
From Memory to Majesty
After breakfast, embark on a guided city tour of Kigali, beginning at the Kandt House Museum, passing through craft markets and the vibrant corners of old Kigali. A visit to the Genocide Memorial Centre provides a sobering but powerful understanding of Rwanda’s past, and an inspiring glimpse of its future.
Following lunch in the city, travel northwest through rolling hills and lush farmlands to Ruhengeri, arriving at Volcanoes National Park in the early evening (approx. 2.5 hrs drive).
Check in to your lodge, nestled at the edge of the forest. The evening is yours—choose to relax or enjoy optional cultural experiences (such as the Intore dance troupe) at an additional cost.
Dinner and overnight at Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge or Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.
Face to Face with the Gentle Giants
An early breakfast sets the stage for an extraordinary morning. At 07:00 hrs, arrive at park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking protocol and allocation to a gorilla family group. Treks vary in difficulty and duration (2–6+ hours), depending on the group’s location.
With expert guides leading the way, trek through moss-draped bamboo, tangled vines, and hagenia forest—until you enter a clearing where time stops. For one unforgettable hour, watch a gorilla family interact: silverbacks standing guard, curious infants tumbling through the foliage.
Return to your lodge for lunch. Spend the afternoon at leisure, soaking in the silence of the mountains or simply replaying your magical encounter.
Dinner and overnight at Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge or Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.
From Highland Trails to Lakeside Tranquility
After breakfast, descend from the Virunga foothills and travel westward to Lake Kivu Serena Hotel, arriving in time for lunch. One of Africa’s Great Lakes, Kivu is known for its calm, crystalline waters, backed by terraced hillsides and sleepy fishing villages.
Spend your afternoon at leisure—relax by the beach or opt for optional excursions such as a scenic boat ride, or a village walk to a coffee plantation (available at additional cost).
Dinner and overnight at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel.
A Farewell Framed in Green
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast overlooking the lake, then begin your return journey to Kigali. The drive takes you past Rwanda’s classic countryside—banana plantations, coffee farms, and endless green ridges that define the “land of a thousand hills.”
On arrival in Kigali, you’ll be transferred to Kigali International Airport in time for your outbound flight.
Safari ends—but the story lives on.
