6 Days Mount Kenya Trek – Up Sirimon; Down Chogoria

Depart Nairobi by 8:00 AM and head north to the slopes of Mount Kenya. After a picnic lunch at Sirimon Gate, begin your ascent along a winding mountain track through forest and moorland. After a 10km trek, arrive at Old Moses Camp (3,300m) where your mountain story begins. Dinner under the stars awaits.

This morning, follow a scenic ridge trail as the path curves into the pristine Likii North Valley. Cross bubbling streams and rocky outcrops before reaching the tucked-away Likii North Camp (3,993m). Enjoy the peaceful seclusion of this remote alpine basin—perfect for acclimatizing and resetting.

Today’s trail leads over dramatic ridges and into the broad, glacier-carved Mackinder’s Valley. As you approach Shipton’s Camp (4,250m), the towering silhouettes of Batian and Nelion dominate the skyline. The air is thin, the silence humbling—tonight, you sleep at the foot of giants.

Rise at 2:00 AM and begin the final summit push under a blanket of stars. Follow a rugged path across scree and icy ridges to reach Point Lenana (4,985m) just in time for the first light of dawn. The golden sunrise over the African plains is a memory that will stay with you forever. Descend to Mintos Hut for a well-earned rest.

After breakfast, begin your descent through the striking Gorges Valley. Lava cliffs, hanging glaciers, and sweeping views define this less-traveled route. Reach the Meru Mount Kenya Bandas (approx. 2,900m) by late afternoon, where a warm shower and dinner mark your return to comfort.

Trek through lush bamboo and indigenous forests as the mountain slowly releases you from her embrace. Arrive at Bairunyi where your transport awaits to return you to Nairobi, carrying stories, strength, and summit pride in your stride.
