Arrive at Mountain Inn in Moshi, your base for the adventure ahead. In the early evening, meet your mountain guide for a detailed trek briefing and equipment check. Settle in for dinner and a restful overnight stay in preparation for your Kilimanjaro climb.
Into the Rainforest Realm
After breakfast, drive to Marangu Gate (1,860m) where your trek begins. The trail winds through dense montane forest alive with birdlife and towering fig trees. Arrive at Mandara Hut (2,750m) after 3–4 hours of walking. Settle in for dinner and your first night on the mountain.
From Forest to Moorland
As you leave the forest behind, the trail ascends into heather and moorland. Enjoy sweeping views of Mawenzi Peak and spot unique alpine flora. After a 5–7 hour trek, reach Horombo Hut, your cozy mountain shelter for the night.
Across the High-Altitude Desert
Continue past the famed "last water point" and enter the saddle between Kibo and Mawenzi—a stark, lunar landscape. The 5–7 hour journey to Kibo Hut builds anticipation for summit night. Rest early and hydrate well—tomorrow is the big day.
Summit Day: The Roof of Africa
Begin your pre-dawn summit attempt under a starlit sky. Trek across steep scree to Gilman’s Point (5,681m) in time for sunrise, then press on to Uhuru Peak (5,895m)—the highest point on the African continent. After taking in your accomplishment and breathtaking views, descend back to Horombo Hut for a well-earned overnight rest. (7–8 hrs up, 4–7 hrs down)
Descent & Celebration
After breakfast, make your final descent through the forest to Marangu Gate (1,860m)—a 5–7 hour trek. Receive your summit certificate, then transfer back to Mountain Inn for a celebratory dinner and a hot shower.
Enjoy breakfast at Mountain Inn. Depending on your onward plans, transfer to the airport or extend your Tanzanian adventure. Safari add-ons or beach extensions in Zanzibar are available.
